While Hotel New Otani contains nearly every amenity a traveler could need, its focal point is the 400-year-old traditional Japanese garden, once home to samurai lord Kiyomasa Kato (1562-1611), and also owned by a shogunate of the Edo period during its extensive history. Comprising 10 acres, including a moat, it is scattered with trees, a koi fish pond, winding pathways, Christian chapel, and even a waterfall. |
A variety of service and sundry stores are located throughout the three buildings and include an AM/PM convenience store, a pharmacy/drug store, dry cleaner, and shoe shine service. More than 100 designer boutiques and fashion stores cover two floors of the Tower building and Garden Court, and various gift, antique, and jewelry stores create a second shopping arcade in the Main building. Wedding parties and guests are catered to with a florist, photographer, formal wear rental shop, four beauty salons, a nail salon, esthetician, and barber.
In addition to two business support centers, guests have access to technological equipment for hire or purchase, and can take care of post/packaging needs on site. More than 30 conference/function rooms, located throughout the hotel, make it a popular spot for business and social events.
Business center: Business support centers are located in both the Main and Tower buildings. The Tower business center is located on the 21st floor and is open daily. It has four computer workstations, three printers, two meeting rooms, and a relaxation room with massage chairs and reading material. A business support center on the lobby floor of the Main building is open daily and offers photocopying, faxing, typing, translation, and other administrative services. Mobile phones can also be rented, and mailing, packaging, and gift wrapping services are available here.
Internet access: High-speed Internet access is available via the Tower business center computer workstations for surcharges in 10-minute increments. Wired high-speed Internet access is also available in most conference/function rooms. Surcharges apply.
Conference/function rooms: Located throughout the three buildings, Hotel New Otani’s 34 conference/banquet rooms cater to nearly every social or business function. The largest, at 1,992 square meters (21,442 square feet), holds up to 1,200 people and includes high-tech light/scenery controls and simultaneous interpretation equipment for up to six languages.
Other: Audiovisual equipment rental is available on the arcade floor of the Main building. A digital photo shop is also available here, as are an ATM and a small post office.

Combined, Hotel New Otani’s Tower and Main buildings hold 1,533 guestrooms, which are located on floors four and higher of the Main building, and 10–39 of the Tower building. All are easily accessible by a variety of elevators in both buildings. Beds are topped with extra-firm mattresses, and have control panels close at hand for remote lighting control. Desks are outfitted with high-speed Internet access (surcharge), and cable TVs include pay movie channels. Fresh flowers can be found in all bathrooms, which also feature hair dryers, second phones, and combination showers/bathtubs with Japanese-design tiles. |
